More helen . . .

Helen, how do I hate thee, let me count the ways:

the way the kb swings RUIN the second 400 meter run , the way the KB swings ruin the pullups . .

Helen: as rx'd

3rft
400 meter run
21 kb swings
12 pullups

13:02

Home course, best home course previous record: 10/15/07 16:04 . . .

Previous best at the gym 12:46 as rx'd

Not bad for home, not my best ever, but in the ballpark. I know where I lost it:

first two rounds of kb swings unbroken . . . 3rd round 13-8 . . .

Pullups:

6-6, 4-4-4, 4-3-2-1-1-1

And my runs were slow as molasses.

But now I know how and where I can make up the time:

1) show some sack, don't break the swings, I mean, honestly? The last round? 8 from done?
2) Suck it up on the runs. Sure the first 100-200m is just getting your ass back, but really, I can run faster.
3) get the pullups closer to unbroken.

I didn't spend a lot of time bar staring or transitioning between exercises.

I think I've got 30 seconds right there and good enough for a pr if keep that in mind.

Ya gotta love 'Helen' :)

"3) get the pullups closer to unbroken."
No Shit... Even though you listed it last, I think this is where you can shave the most time off your 'Helen' (and 'Fran', etc..)

I have couple suggestions, but I'm going to defer and recommend that you ask GD, Kempie, (etc.) what the best way to work on pullups is.

I hope I'm not overstepping the bounds here when I say that I think that your pullups are probably one of the biggest chinks in your armor and that working on them will have HUGE returns.

Dude, not at all are you overstepping. You are absolutely correct.

My pull ups suck. PARTICULARLY after as long as I've been doing this.

With pullups straight through, I could shave 1:30 off this without just sucking it up and running faster.

I mean, hello, my swings were nearly unbroken and if I remember that next time I won't let that goddamned kb down.

I've actually put myself on a course to get 35 pullups by the end of the year.

Near as I can tell, the folks who can do an unbroken Fran need like a max of 40-50. For some reason if they have that, the 21 doesn't seem so bad. Since I have 25 (25!!! CHRIST it's embarrassing!).

25 is definitely a respectable number. by extension of your theory on unbroken 'Fran', you should be close to an unbroken 'Helen.'

BTW solid CFSB work lately bro.

Yeah I was really hoping the pullups would be better this time. I've done 3x10 but it just wasn't happening today.

And yeah 25 is respectable, but I got that over a year ago and haven't gone up. That's whats wrong.
